A stroll to Haliguen harbor and the Landes coast
In 1770 it had only a rough pier of dry stones. It is at the beginning of the 19th century that important works are undertaken with a cleaning and the construction of the quays. At the end of the 60's, the marina on the south side appears, followed by the second basin in 1973.
Two life-size sculptures, the "fisherman and the muddy", offered by the German sculptor Karsten Klingbeil, face each other on either side of the entrance to the old port.
The old lighthouse replaces an old wooden building from 1840 and put up in his house on the wharf generations of guards until 1970. Fishing port and trade with the coal transport of England, Norwegian ice, Port Haliguen also had a military vocation: the Bay served as a training base by naval squadrons of cruisers and torpedo boats from Brest until the beginning of the 20th century. It now hosts the service of Lighthouses and Beacons.
3 plaques commemorate historical events: the landing of Captain Dreyfus, the testimony of the recognition of the independence of America by the squadron of La Motte Picquet and the landing of the emigrants who went to General Hoche in 1795.
The Landes Coast, an outlook of Locmaria
The Locmaria Tower Eric constructed on the site of the former semaphore near the village of Kerniscob, the Locmaria tower offers an exceptional view of the Quiberon Bay, the Isthmus of Penthièvre, the Côte Sauvage and the islands of Belle-Ile and Houat. Climb it: a viewpoint indicator has been installed at the top.
